See below what some of our Grant recipients say about us and what some of them have achieved with a little help from us!
We are proud to have supported Andy Lewis MBE and Piers Gilliver in their quest to compete in the Rio Paralympics last summer. Andy brought home the Gold medal in the triathlon and Piers brought home a Silver medal in the wheelchair fencing.
Jamie Harding is hoping to follow in the footsteps of Andy Lewis and Piers Gilliver and compete in the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics. Jamie has received a Grant from us. This has enabled him to purchase a Dolan D4 carbon fibre framed bike. Jamie has already been selected to train with the GB paracycling team on a programme to help athletes with potential to compete at the highest level.
“Thank you so much for the funding you gave towards my wheelchair, I am thrilled. It has given me freedom to go out again.” Mark Lake
“It has now been 12 months since we received funding from GDF to support the developement of Boccia for disabled people. A huge amount has been accomplished due to the funding. Thank you for your kind support” Active Gloucestershire.
“GDF is fantastic. Run by a group of wonderfully suportive and kind individuals, without whom I wouldn’t have been able to continue with my studies. They were understanding of my disability and extremely encouraging when it came to my academic aspirations.” Keely O’Shaughnessy.
Among many other grants, we have supported a young lady to persue her college course in textile and design and provided a new washing machine for a family struggling to cope with the laundry demands of a boy whose disability created night time incontinence issues.
Previous grants to organisations/groups have helped to fund a much needed replacement people carrier for children at The Milestone School, Gloucester and improvements to facilities at the Greenwood Therapeutic Horticulture Centre at Bushley.
