Who we fund

Individual applicants

Anyone with a physical, sensory or learning disability can apply for one of our Well-Being grants, regardless of age. Applicants must be in genuine need of the help requested and be unable to afford the item/help/service. Our Well-Being grants to individuals are normally up to £1,000.

All we ask is that you live in Gloucestershire, can prove that you are in receipt of a statutory disability benefit and that your application is supported by a health, social care or education professional, support worker or other independent person able to comment on your needs and circumstances.

GDF is unable to consider applicants whose disability arises from a mental illness.

Organisation/Group applicants

The Gloucestershire Disability Fund is able to provide financial help to Organisations/Groups whose aim is to improve the lives of Gloucestershire people with physical, sensory or learning disabilities.  GDF is unable to fund Organisations/Groups whose primary aim is helping people with a mental illness.

For example, it may be that you are a support group for a special school or a sports club, youth club or a lunch club providing assistance to people with disabilities and need to buy some new equipment or funding for recreational activities. All we ask is that you complete our application form and explain how a grant from us would enhance the quality of life for the people with disabilities that you are supporting through your work. Our maximum grant to organisations or groups is £2,500.
