Who we fund

Anyone with a physical, sensory or learning disability can apply for one of our Disability Grants for Individuals, regardless of age. Applicants need to provide evidence of the disability and demonstrate that the item or service being requested has a clear, direct and specific link to their disability.

As part of our revised grant-making process in early 2026, GDF is unlikely now to award grants for items or services which, in the grant panel's view, are based primarily on improving wellbeing. It is also unlikely to fund new or replacement items (e.g. white household goods) that would benefit most households.

Organisation/group grants from Gloucestershire Disability Fund (GDF) are designed to be one-off. We do not wish to encourage dependency on the charity for support. We have criteria by which we assess applications for funding, and while we may make a value judgement about the nature of the request given the circumstances of each applicant and our knowledge and experience, we strive to be fair and consistent.
